Jody Douglas Moncebaiz, son of our founder Ken Moncebaiz, passed away unexpectedly on June 21 after a cardiac event. He was just 22 years old.
Jody’s life changed after he suffered a traumatic brain injury. It was a devastating moment—but it was also the beginning of a long, courageous fight. With his father Ken by his side every day, Jody made incredible strides in regaining communication and motor skills. He fought hard, with strength, spirit, and determination that inspired everyone who knew him.
The photo above was taken just a few months before his injury. In it, you can see the vibrant young man Jody was—a brother, a son, and a member of the K&M family.
Jody’s siblings—Josh, Nicole, and Alex—all work in the family business. And baby Kendall, the youngest Moncebaiz, got to spend the first year of her life getting to know her big brother. That time was a gift we will always be grateful for.
Jody was able to return home after 17 months and 22 days in hospitals and care centers. He spent his final years with his father, surrounded by love. We’ll remember him not just for the hardship he endured, but for the courage with which he lived.
