Frequently Asked Saltillo Tile Cleaning & Restoration Questions
Why is a topical sealant applied to Saltillo tile?
Saltillo tile is a highly porous tile. If it is not coated with a topical sealer, normal foot traffic can cause noticeable wear and the tile will absorb anything spilled onto it.
Why does Saltillo tile need to be stripped and re-coated?
Over time, topical sealants applied to Saltillo tile will wear and look foggy in high-traffic areas. When this happens, the topical sealers will need to be removed with a high-alkaline stripper. After the dull, worn-out sealant coat is removed, a new topical coating is applied to make the Saltillo floors look good for years to come.
Does K&M use heat and high pressure to clean Saltillo tiles?
Saltillo tile is relatively soft. High pressure and head could damage the tile and existing topical sealers. We turn off the heat and lower the pressure on our tile cleaning equipment when we are working with Saltillo floors.
Does K&M hire employees or do they use contractors to perform cleaning and restoration on Saltillo tile floors?
Every person representing K&M Steam Cleaning at your home is an employee of K&M. Our employees arrive in company vehicles, wearing a K&M Steam Cleaning uniform. K&M does not hire independent contractors.
Are your Saltillo tile cleaning products safe for children and pets?
Yes, we take great pride in making sure all of the products we use are pet and baby-safe. Over the decades we have been in business, there has been constant change in the best cleaning products available. We have changed our standard cleaning solutions as better products were invented and became available. The one constant amidst all that change: We always choose to continue to use a non-abrasive, water-based product in your home.
