Frequently Asked Stone & Granite Counter Restoration Questions

My granite, quartz, marble, or stone countertops are not shiny like when they were installed. Can you make them shine again?

Often, household cleaners and soap & water can build up into a dull film on natural stone counters. Our stone counter maintenance pros can remove any build-ups, polish your counters to shine like new, and apply a protective sealant coat to keep your counters shining longer.

What types of stone countertop materials does K&M clean, polish, and seal?

K&M specializes in Granite Countertop Cleaning and Sealing, Marble Countertop Cleaning and Sealing, Slate Countertop Cleaning and Sealing, and Quartz Countertop Cleaning and Polishing.

Can K&M remove the white film near the faucets on my granite or stone countertops?

That film is actually a mineral deposit caused by hard water. K&M routinely removes mineral deposits from natural stone surfaces. Our stone care techs have the solutions, tools, and experience to remove mineral deposits that may have seemed “permanent” to a property owner attempting to remove them without the right tools and knowledge.

My polished marble, limestone, or onyx countertops have been etched with citric acid, alcohol, or soda. Can the etching be removed?

The bad news is that the etching cannot be removed easily with any products available to consumers. The good news: a skilled stone care tech can remove the etching and polish the surface to look like new.

What types of consumer-grade cleaners can damage stone countertops?

We recommend homeowners avoid using the following types of commonly-available cleaners on their natural stone counters: vinegar, bleach, general-purpose cleaners, bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners, abrasive cleaners, soft scrubbing cleaners, and alkaline cleaners not specifically made for natural stone.

Does K&M hire employees or do they use contractors to perform cleaning and restoration on granite & stone counters?

Every person representing K&M Steam Cleaning at your home is an employee of K&M. Our employees arrive in company vehicles, wearing a K&M Steam Cleaning uniform. K&M does not hire independent contractors.

Are your stone & granite counter cleaning products safe for children and pets?

Yes, we take great pride in making sure all of the products we use are pet and baby-safe. Over the last 25 years we have been in business, there has been constant change in the best cleaning products available. We have changed our standard cleaning solutions as better products were invented and became available. The one constant amidst all that change: We always choose to continue to use a non-abrasive, water-based product in your home.

Is K&M Steam Cleaning insured and bonded?

Yes, our granite and stone counter specialists are all insured and bonded. If you have any questions regarding our insurance, please call our office.
